In his 25 years in Catholic education Stuart Kelly has experienced working in a variety of schools and colleges across southern Tasmania.

Commencing in the system as a Teacher Assistant, Stuart has held Principalships at Sacred Heart Catholic School Geeveston, St Therese’s Catholic School, St Paul’s Catholic School, and is currently Principal at St Brigid’s Catholic School in New Norfolk.

Stuart’s leadership has been recognised by the Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership.

“I was awarded the AITSL Tasmanian/Australian Primary Principal of the Year due to the collaborative and team approach to learning that I was able to plan, implement and lead at Sacred Heart Catholic School, Geeveston.”

During his time in Catholic education Stuart has witnessed many changes.

“The biggest change is the extensive support that schools now receive [from] the TCEO and other agencies to assist with management, learning and teaching and mental health and well-being.”

Teamwork forms a big part of Stuart’s time in Catholic education.

“I enjoy working alongside my colleagues to ensure all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential and that school is a safe, enjoyable and positive experience for all members of the community.”

Stuart hopes Catholic education in Tasmania continues to stay faithful to the Church’s mission in Catholic education.

“I love working with families, the Parish and the local community to ensure our Catholic values are at the centre of everything we do."

“I enjoy working alongside the dedicated, committed and supportive staff in our schools and Parishes to ensure our learning and teaching programs are engaging, relevant and cater for the individual needs of all students.”

“My hope would be that all our schools and colleges continue to stay faithful to their mission and vision to ensure we cater for the most vulnerable and marginalised students and families in our local communities.”
