Celebrating First Nations Success in 2024: A Year in Review

Catholic Education Tasmania’s ongoing commitment to cultural connection has been featured in A Year in Review – Celebrating First Nations Success Through First Nations Direct.

This publication reflects Catholic Education Tasmania’s efforts in nurturing meaningful relationships between schools and families, and highlights the important role cultural connection plays in enriching the educational experience.

A Year in Review showcases the dedication of educators, Knowledge Sharers, and community partners across our system, all working together to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in learning.

Through Catholic Education Tasmania’s dedicated online Aboriginal Knowledge Sharers and Educators Portal (AKSEP), schools have deepened their engagement with Knowledge Sharers, enhanced classroom learning, and strengthened partnerships that support reconciliation and understanding.

“These partnerships not only benefit student learning but also help build a stronger sense of belonging and cultural safety within our school communities,” said John Wilson, Director School Services.

“We encourage our schools to continue sharing their stories and successes throughout 2025, so that the collective impact of this work can be recognised and celebrated.”

The publication highlights many inspiring examples of collaboration between schools, families, and Aboriginal Knowledge Sharers throughout 2024.

The Catholic Education Tasmania Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Team is currently distributing printed copies of the Year in Review to Principals, Aboriginal Student Support Teachers, and Key Teachers across the system.

By embedding First Nations perspectives in education and fostering strong, respectful partnerships, we continue to support inclusive learning environments where every student feels valued, connected, and empowered to succeed.
