Support for Students
The Tasmanian Catholic Education Office manages a Student Support program to deliver additional support to students who experience problems with their learning. The Program offers support in areas such as hearing impairment, speech pathology, interpreting, psychological testing, education assessment, occupational therapy/physiotherapy, and positive behaviour support.
Please contact your Principal to enquire about access to this program.
Sofos Online Gifted Education
Sofos aims to cater for gifted students, enabling them to interact with like-minded peers in a safe online environment. The challenging learning activities on Sofos utilise higher-order thinking skills, problem-solving and the opportunity for flexible learning.
Rainbows is a not-for-profit international organisation that offers training and programs for establishing peer support groups in schools, social agencies and community groups, anywhere where young people meet on a regular basis with their peers. These programs are available for children and adults of all ages who are grieving a death, divorce or any other painful transition in their family.
Since it is necessary for emotional healing to take place after a significant loss, the support group provides those grieving an opportunity to share their feelings in an accepting environment supported by trained, caring and compassionate adults.
The aim of Rainbows is to assist in building a stronger self-esteem and to direct participants toward a healthy resolution of the changes that have taken place in their personal lives.
English as Another Language
Meeting the needs of learners from diverse cultures and language backgrounds is the focus of EAL. It is vital that students who have English learning needs are identified, supported and monitored in all aspects of their schooling.
