Recognition Awards

Each year during Catholic Education Week, the Tasmanian Catholic Education Commission (TCEC) holds awards to recognise the contribution made by those in the Tasmanian Catholic Education community.

The Commission asks the Catholic Education community to nominate people who they believe have made a significant contribution to Tasmanian Catholic Education.  A panel established by the TCEC assesses these nominations against set criteria and successful staff, family members and friends of Catholic Education are then presented with Recognition Awards at ceremonies in each of the three regions.

In 2014 Archbishop Julian Porteous presented awards for Exemplary Contribution to Catholic Education, Outstanding Service as an Employee within Catholic Education and Outstanding Contribution as a Friend in Catholic Schools.

These ceremonies also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of staff who have devoted 25 years of service to Catholic Education.

The Archbishop, in publicly acknowledging the award recipients, said that it is people who make all the difference in our education system and stressed the broad base of generous and dedicated service given by so many in Catholic Education.
